North Country Community Acupuncture is a clinic designed to bring affordable, effective acupuncture to Northeast Minneapolis.
How much does treatment cost?
Treatments are on a sliding scale of $20 – $50 per treatment, plus a one-time $10 intake fee the first visit. No proof of income is required; you decide what you can afford. The affordable rates are possible because rather than treating in private rooms, we treat people in a shared open space. Each person gets individualized treatment customized to their needs. We also offer monthly specials.
What is it like?
The atmosphere in North Country Community Acupuncture is quiet and calming so many people fall asleep once their needles are in. Community style acupuncture, where multiple treatments take place in one shared space, has long been the standard in Asia, and has become increasingly popular in the U.S. over the past ten years. This kind of collective stillness is rare and precious in our rushed society. Learn more about the experience.
How often should I be treated?
In the U.S., the usual model of treatment once every few weeks or once a month, is primarily due to cost. Frequent treatment is much more likely to lead to relief. A course of treatment will be suggested based on experience treating different conditions. Acupuncture works best when it is frequent and regular. So if you don’t come in often enough or for long enough, acupuncture probably won’t work well for you. In fact, you will spend less money and less time by getting treated frequently in the beginning, than if you come sporadically for a long period of time.
Why community acupuncture?
The objective is to make your course of treatment as quick and effective as possible. The group setting makes it easy for friends and family members to come in for treatment together. The sliding scale enables patients to come regularly enough to get better and stay better. Practitioners enjoy the successful results, attributing them not only to frequency of treatment and effective distal style treatment techniques, but also to what seems to be a bonus of treating more than one person in a room– the multiple treatments in a community clinic lend a ‘healing charge’ to the room, and make each individual treatment all the more effective.
North Country Community Acupunctureis proud to be part of a rapidly growing movement of over 180 community clinics around the country, where thousands of people are getting treated this way — both patients and practitioners love it! The national organization called POCA is a multi-stakeholder cooperative meaning patients can join, get involved and support the movement.
